A Brief Introduction to This High School
This High school of Hebei Province, first built in 1951, is one of the first model high schools in Hebei Province . It covers about 13.3 hectares and contains more than 5000 students and 490 teaching staff. The aims of This High school are to run this school based on reality, dreams of the future, with the nation in heart and the world in mind ” .It is under the guidance of the philosophy of “People-oriented practice, scientific management, seeking truth and being realistic, quality first” . What’s more ,on the basis of the quality education , it grasp every chance to reform and innovate ,and spare no effort to fulfill five educational theories ,among which lifelong education is the principal one .These educational theories activate both teachers’ and students’ creativity demand, stimulate campus cultural energy and help realize the school’s harmonious and rapid development. Twenty-seven national honorary titles have been conferred to This High School in the past five years. This year we got the National May Day Lobour Certificate, National Spiritual Civilization Advanced Unit, National Juvenile Mentality and Moral Construction Advanced Unit, National Physical Education Traditional Events School and so on.

During the past years, approximately 80 teachers from our school have been invited to present lectures on teaching. Furthermore, 200 teachers have received honorary title from This city, HeBei Province, and the nation. Students tend to develop comprehensive qualities, innovative consciousness and creative spirit under the guidance of the high quality and well educated teachers. About 300 students have won a variety of competitions, such as the International Olympic Competition of Robot, the National Juvenile Science and Technology Innovation Competition, the China Intelligent Robot Competition and so on. In terms of College entrance examination achievements, our school ranks 1st in HeBei province continually since 2000. The Grade three students have gained the highest scores of College entrance examination both in Art and Science separately in a row since 2006. In the past four years, there have been 172 students admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University, 8 students admitted to University of Science and Technology of China Youth Class and more than 5000 students admitted to key universities. All of these students have strong sense of responsibility, good academic performance , comprehensive qualities and high development potential. Some of them serve as student leaders, and some have got honorary titles many times. And many students have been admitted to world famous universities. Many graduates from This High School have obtained PHD’s degrees so far and play a very important role in all fields both at home and abroad in society, economics and politics. This high School has become excellent student base.
On the basis of opening principle, This High School has been making every effort to create opportunities of international exchange and cooperation, aiming to foster graduates of good quality. We have invited more than 30 foreigners to teach in our school, who graduated from well-known universities, such as Cambridge and Oxford Universities. Also, we have founded sister school relationship with Roger Manwoods School in Britain and William Tolman High School & Charles Shea High School in America. All this has laid a good foundation for the goal of educating graduates who love their country, have a good knowledge of the world and keep pace with modern society.
More than twenty national newspapers and magazines, such as Education Newspaper of China, Newspaper for Chinese Teachers and People’s Education, have publicized the educational experience of This High School to the whole nation, thus attracting the attention of the field of Chinese education. As a result, over 150,000 people from 30 provinces and regions have come to pay a visit to the school. They think highly of the school, saying that This High School has created an educational legend and leads by example.
Appendix to the Standard Contract
- The foreign teachers in This High school can enjoy no more than 25 classes a week, a monthly salary of 7000 yuan RMB(usually at the end of each month ),beginning from the day they come to the expiration of the contract. If working less than a month, they will be paid according to the number of days they work.
- If they work in the school for a whole academic year, the foreign teachers will enjoy a traveling a traveling subsidy of 2600 yuan RMB, medical insurance for the year and a 1000yuan subsidy for medical care (The school will not be responsible for overspent money on medical care). Besides, foreign teachers here can also get a 50-yuan telephone service subsidy each month, which is included in the monthly salary. If the foreign teacher works in our school for one year, he or she will be paid full salary during summer holidays.
- The foreign teachers are required to ask for permission from the Foreign Teachers Office if they have to leave their work for private business, and a certain amount of money will be taken away from their salary according to the number of days of their absence. At most three days in succession are permitted. If they have more than three days in succession for private business leave, the amount of money taken away will be doubled according to the number of days of absence, for example, two days' salary will be taken away for one day absence. Within the effective period of the contract, at most ten days will be allowed for private-business leave. In case of absence without permission, the amount of money to be taken away will be three times as much as what should be given for the work. For example , three days' salary will be taken away for one-day absence. In the extreme case of violation of the contract. The school has the right to cancel the contract.
- For the sake of security, the foreign teachers are not allowed to work outside the school for other units without the permission of the Foreign Teachers Office.
- The foreign teachers can go traveling at weekends and during the holidays, but they are requested to pay great attention to safety. The school will not take any responsibility for any accident that might happen. The foreign teachers are also requested to inform the Foreign Teachers Office of when to leave and where to travel before leaving and come back at the time required.
- For safety, the foreign teachers are requested to cut off electricity when they use the electric shower, and to make sure that doors and windows shut, and the gas tap is turned off before they leave the apartment. They are to be responsible for anything unpleasant that might happen because of the violation of the rules of operation.
- Overdrinking is not allowed, and no strangers should be permitted into the apartment. It is suggested that foreign teachers should return to the apartment before eleven o'clock at night. Any late coming in special cases should be reported to the Office.
- The foreign teachers are entitled to enjoy any holidays that the school has. They can also have two days off for Christmas.
- The college is to pay for a return ticket for the foreign teachers who work here the whole academic year, when they have finished teaching.
- As required by the provincial public security Department, foreign teachers should stay only in those hotels entitled to accommodate foreigners. Both the hotel and the guest have the duty to report to the local public security bureau for registration .Any violator will be fined at most 500 yuan RMB.
- The foreign teachers are not allowed to be involved in any missionary work; neither is it appropriate for them to talk in class about politically sensitive topics such as Taiwan question.
- The agreement is in duplicate, in the Chinese and English language, both texts being equally authentic. It will come into effective immediately upon signature.
- The foreign teachers will enjoy a 60m2—80m2 living room.
